According to the National Clearinghouse on Child Abuse and Neglect Information, there have been significant increases in the incidences of child sexual abuse since the last national incidence study was conducted in l986. A child’s risk of experiencing harm-causing sexual abuse or neglect has doubled since l986. Girls were sexually abused three times more often than boys and boys have a greater risk of emotional neglect and of serious injury than girls. Healium Inc. is preparing to launch a media campaign against child abuse.
Peabody award winner and co-founder of Def Poetry, Deborah Battle Pointer and actor, playwright and former Essence magazine men’s wear editor, Ronald Grant, have published their first children’ picture book, “I Am Hip-Hop”, published by their nonprofit organization Healium Inc.

The book poem was written by poet and writer, Nicole Duncan Smith with extraordinary photographs by photographer, Stella Magloire.
